Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange big

NEW YORK (Aug. 12, 2015) ─ Questex Travel Group has announced that next year's Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (CMITE) will be held Aug. 29-Sept. 1 at the Hilton Barbados Resort, hosted by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. and supported by Sunlinc, a leading Caribbean destination management company.

CMITE, held in partnership with SITE, the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence, brings fully hosted North American meeting planners and incentive buyers together with Caribbean suppliers for two and a half days of exclusive networking opportunities and prescheduled one-to-one meetings in luxury suites.

Marilyn McHugh, Questex Travel Group vice president of global events, and Petra Roach, director of the U.S. for the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., made the announcement at this year's sold-out event, which is underway at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

McHugh said Barbados is known for its gracious and hospitable people, world-class beaches and fine-dining restaurants. "Barbados truly will be an exciting destination for our incentive travel buyers and suppliers," she said. "We couldn't be happier to share this news."

Roach said her organization has identified the meetings and incentive markets as the island's "key pillars" for growth, adding: "Hosting 65 of the top U.S buyers on the island lends us the perfect platform to showcase the renowned hospitality, sights and sounds that Barbados has to offer.

"We are absolutely thrilled at the confidence invested in us by Questex in choosing Barbados as host destination for CMITE in 2016. Thanks to additional service by Delta and JetBlue airlines and newly opened resorts, now is the perfect time for the travel industry to reacquaint itself with Barbados."

The Hilton Barbados Resort is located on the beach at Needham's Point in Bridgetown. The resort was constructed on the site of the 17th century Fort Charles, part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. Visitors can explore the original cannons and walls of the fort.

CMITE is known for its highly productive, qualified appointments and unique networking opportunities. One-to-one meetings are conducted in the privacy of luxury suites, ensuring a focused experience for buyers and suppliers. Suppliers at this year's event include cruise lines, tour operators, destination management companies, hotels, resorts and spas.

CMITE is part of the Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchanges (GMITE) portfolio of events, all of which feature one-to-one meetings and top-of-the-line training and networking opportunities for meeting and event-planning professionals and incentive buyers.
