The Hotel Yearbook launches first-ever Special Edition on talent development

Released exclusively as an e-book, the new publication features contributions from opinion leaders around the world on the trends and issues in identifying, educating, hiring, training, mentoring, managing, developing, and retaining talented people in the hospitality industry.

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – April 2016 - Wade & Co. SA, the Swiss-based co-publisher of The Hotel Yearbook, an annual compendium of expert opinion and insights on the future of the hotel industry, announces the launch of The Hotel Yearbook 2016 – Talent Development, its first Special Edition in this critically important subject area.

"Since the first edition of The Hotel Yearbook ten years ago, its editorial concept has been to bring together senior hotel industry executives and recognized experts and thought leaders from every part of the industry to write about trends, foresight and innovation in the global hotel business," said Woody Wade, whose company Wade & Co. is the co-publisher of the series, along with Hsyndicate, the leading provider of online industry intelligence, based in the Netherlands.

"With this new publication, we are focusing for the first time on the issues affecting talent – a factor that nearly everyone in the hotel business agrees is critical to its success."

Trends in leadership development, the integration of new technologies, and the changing expectations and needs of the upcoming generations of talented young professionals are some of the issues the new edition will address.

Assisting in the development of the content of The Hotel Yearbook 2016 – Talent Development is a publication partner, the Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS). Also based in Switzerland, YHS is a student-managed organization that acts towards improving professional opportunities for young talent by fostering dialogue on employment between industry leaders and ambitious young graduates just starting in the business. Its annual summit is attended by representatives of dozens of leading companies and hotel schools from every continent.

"We are very pleased to be working with The Hotel Yearbook on their first-ever special edition on talent development within the hotel industry," said Gimhanee Herath, Head of Press Relations at the Young Hoteliers Summit. "Given our mission, we believe The Hotel Yearbook's new publication is the perfect place for the dialogue between our stakeholders to continue, and we support its efforts to address major trends and issues in this field."

Henri Roelings, Founder & CEO of Hsyndicate, agrees: "Every successful hotel company has one thing in common: people working in it who have that rare kind of people-focused talent that makes our business so special. Developing and retaining this talent has always been a challenge, and now there are some interesting changes ahead. For that reason, The Hotel Yearbook 2016 – Talent Development will be a must read for managers and aspiring managers – and for students as well. We plan to distribute this issue free of charge to hotel schools worldwide."
