Bangkok, Thailand -- In recognition of the increasing importance of the Middle Eastern travel market and the Arabian Gulf's role as a global travel hub, Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group will be at Arabian Travel Mart in Dubai this week to meet with travel industry partners, highlight properties in key locations and share new and upcoming additions to its portfolio of hotels, resorts and serviced residences across the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean region.

The rapidly expanding hotel company is celebrating an exciting period of development across its various brands, and marking its entry into key new markets including the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Over the last 12 months, ONYX welcomed six new additions to its regional portfolio of properties, headlined by Amari Havodda Maldives which opened on 15 January 2016. A secluded hideaway set on its own private island on the pristine Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, the resort is home to one of the largest infinity pools in the Maldives. Its 120 guest villas are located either along the beach or over the waters of the island's spectacular house reef.

Other openings over the past year include Amari Koh Samui, a resort located on a secluded stretch of the famed Chaweng Beach, OZO Kandy Sri Lanka, a smart and fresh new hotel located minutes from the Kandy town centre with views of the lake and surrounding landmarks, Chiva Residence Bangkok, a residence-style hotel located in the upscale Soonvijai district of the Thai capital, and Nova Express Pattaya, a hotel located on Pattaya Third Road.

Over the last 12-month period, ONYX also announced the upcoming opening of new properties in locations such as Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, Malaysia and China.

Business Update:
The Middle East and Arabian Gulf continues to be an increasingly important source market for ONYX. The area is the third largest regional source market for the ONYX portfolio of hotels after Asia and Europe, and witnessed a 17% year-on-year increase in guest arrivals in 2015. The Middle Eastern market also accounts for over 10% of total guest occupancy across the ONYX portfolio of hotels across the Asia Pacific and Indian Ocean region.

The top ONYX destinations for Middle Eastern guests include Bangkok, Doha and Kandy in Sri Lanka.

In Bangkok, two ONYX hotels offering residence-style accommodation – Amari Residences Bangkok and Oriental Residence Bangkok - are witnessing a rise in popularity with guests from the Middle East. Both properties have Arabic-speaking staff on hand to provide enhanced assistance and comfort to guests from the GCC. Outside of Bangkok, ONYX is also seeing increased interest in destinations such as Phuket and Colombo.

Upcoming Developments
Proud of its Thai roots, ONYX Hospitality Group continues to expand its presence across the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean region. Highlights include:
