Ann Arbor, Mi. is one of the most expensive destinations in the Midwestern region of the United States. A recent survey conducted by ChicagoHotels.org has come up with this finding.

The survey compared 30 Midwestern destinations based on their cost of lodging during the current month of May. May was chosen for comparative purposes because most cities in the region will reach their highest average rates of the year during that month.

In Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan, travelers will have to spend $175 for the cheapest available double room. It must be noted that only centrally located hotels with a rating of at least three stars have been considered by the survey.

Only two destinations are slightly more expensive than Ann Arbor: 1) Madison, the capital of the state of Wisconsin and 2) Chicago, the Midwest's most populous city. With average rates of $182 and $176, respectively, they secured the survey's number 1 and 2 slots.

Detroit and Grand Rapids, the other two destinations in the state of Michigan considered by the survey, rank with average rates of $144 and $154, respectively. Those figures also put them among the Top 10.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in the Midwest based on the average rate for their cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) during the time period spanning May 1–31, 2016.
