On April 13, the elite of the global luxury hotel industry gathered in Vancouver for the 2016 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards to honor the 1,262 Five-Star, Four-Star and Recommended award winners. More than 300 top hoteliers, restaurateurs and spa leaders from around the world attended this year's celebration, hosted by Fairmont Pacific Rim, Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver and Rosewood Hotel Georgia. This year's awards mark the 58th annual list of worldwide Star Rating recipients.

In addition to 42 new Five-Star hotels, the 2016 list includes 101 new Four-Star hotels and 57 new hotels in the Recommended category. The prestigious rating system – which began in 1958 as the Mobil Travel Guide – provides the travel industry's most comprehensive ratings and reviews of hotels, restaurants and spas.
