The Oxford School of Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University has recently launched an exciting new master's course - MSc Tourism Futures. Applications are now being received for students to start the course in September 2016.

The contemporary international tourism industry faces a range of major political, cultural, economic and environmental challenges. On this course students will explore how destinations and organisations can effectively respond to these challenges using new and innovative approaches to business.

A distinctive element of this new programme is the extent to which students will interact with industry and non-governmental bodies. Calling on the School's global network of contacts, students will undertake real consultancy projects in association with tourism organisations and destinations, including those that adopt creative and disruptive approaches to business. This will give students a deep insight into practice, and will ensure they are ready to pursue successful careers upon graduation. It will also provide a strong foundation for aspiring entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs.

Christopher Rodrigues, current Chairman of Visit Britain,

the body responsible for promoting the UK around the world as a leading tourist destination commented on the new MSc Tourism Futures: 'The international tourism industry is experiencing change on an unprecedented scale. It needs highly skilled graduates who can challenge established thinking, are excited by innovation and have hands-on experience. Oxford Brookes is known for producing our industry's future leaders - those who make their mark on tourism development worldwide'.

Kate Ringham, Programme Lead

for postgraduate courses at the Oxford School of Hospitality Management said: "Students will benefit not only from interaction with industry, but also through support from our research active colleagues, who are recognised internationally for the quality and impact of their work."

Every student will also be assigned an industry mentor through the school's unique Bacchus Mentoring Scheme. And after the one-year taught programme they will have the option to gain work experience with a top employer on a one-year, paid internship.
