We are a team of 18 international and dynamic students from EHL, joining voluntary forces to host an independently organized TED event at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. Since 2012, we have played a key role in facilitating distinguished speakers to spread new ideas and captivating stories to an ever-growing audience. Our goal is to bring the TED experience to our University and to give back to our Lausanne community.

This year, we are spreading our wings! In a quest for the greater good, "Ideas Worth Spreading", we are looking to expand our horizons by welcoming over 600 leaders to our upcoming TEDxEcoleHôtelièreLausanne Edition! This TEDx conference will be one of the biggest TEDx event organized in Lausanne, and the biggest conference organized at the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. We look forward to welcoming you on campus to share a memorable experience.

Origins. A concept so critical and central to how we define the world we experience. The process of understanding involves reversing a chain of events, up to a starting point from which an infinite number of possible outcomes has started. What is the Big Bang Theory, if not an attempt to explore the expansion of our universe by understanding this fateful singularity that led to everything there ever was, is, and ever will be? For millennia, science has gazed into the complexity of origins in a quest to find meaning, to consider our place and role in a cosmic, spiritual or practical sense. Individuals also have origins that help them define themselves and give them a sense of belonging in a world that has grown to thrive on individualism.

Revolutionary thinking can also be traced back to its origins. The beginning of an idea and what it means to pursue it are concepts dear to the hearts of entrepreneurs and pioneers. These are just a few examples of what origins can represent to our TEDx team. In fact we discovered that origins can be interpreted in as many ways as there are individual human experiences.

The topic of « Origins » is vague, and we intuitively know that everything has an origin. So we ask ourselves what is the root of an origin, where does an idea come from? With such a broad theme, we provide a loose path in which we encourage the speakers and the audience to embark on a journey of discovery. We want our speakers to spread their ideas. We want the audience to share their story, their opinion and their vision.
