Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries, has been rewarded once again for its long-term and focused work to reduce its environmental impact. In the recently released CDP Climate Change Report 2016, Scandic was ranked at level B, placing well over the average for other Nordic companies.

Scandic has been a pioneer when it comes to integrating sustainability in all of its operations. Reporting on environmental aspects began in as early as 1996. Since then, Scandic's goal-oriented and systematic work to reduce the environmental impact of its operations has continued to show improved results. Today, over 80 percent of all hotels are certified with the EU Ecolabel, the official environmental certification of the European Union.

– We're extremely proud to have one of the best sustainability programs in the hotel industry. Sustainability is part of our DNA. It places high demands on our entire operations and for many years, we have been working proactively to create and develop processes to reduce our environmental footprint, says Lena Bjurner, HR and Sustainability Director at Scandic Hotels Group.

The CDP ranking confirms that Scandic's environmental work is contributing to a decrease in CO2emissions, which is a requirement for a B ranking.

– Scandic responded to the CDP investor information request for the first time in 2016 and has already scored a respectable B. Scandic was one of the highest-ranked Nordic companies that participated in 2016, says Salla Sulasuo, Head of Nordic office, CDP Europe.
