MCLEAN, Va. -- More than 2 out of 3 Americans agree that it's the simple moments, like enjoying warm cookies, that help them appreciate the holidays more. To encourage a happy holiday season, from today until December 24, 2016, DoubleTree by Hilton, one of Hilton's (NYSE: HLT) 13 distinct brands, is introducing 12 Days of Cookies - a welcome invite to both guests and non-guests to visit any U.S. property and pick up one of brand's beloved warm DoubleTree Cookies to enjoy for themselves - or to leave out for Santa.

"We open our doors every day to guests, paying attention to little details that have a big impact on their stay," said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. "For the next 12 days, we welcome anyone to come in, enjoy one of our delicious (and free!) signature DoubleTree Cookies and celebrate the warm and caring spirit of the holiday season - a feeling we strive to achieve all year."

Cookies with a Side of Eggnog

According to a study commissioned by DoubleTree by Hilton, nearly 40 percent of Americans agree that milk isn't the only beverage to pair with cookies. As a twist to the time-honored holiday tradition of offering cookies and milk, DoubleTree by Hilton introduces Chocolate Chip Cookies and Drinks: A Pairings Guide, developed by the expert mixologists at the soon-to-open DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West.

The Pairings Guide includes the perfect sweet concoction for everyone, with seven cocktails, two mocktails and even pairing suggestions for beer and wine aficionados. Highlights include Coming in Hot Toddy, a new take on the Hot Toddy that adds ginger beer, and Brandied Bedside Bourbon, a tasty mix of muddled brandied cherries and bourbon.

Survey Says

In an effort to discover how travelers embrace the holidays, DoubleTree by Hilton asked Americans how they preserve and celebrate their favorite traditions at home - and on the road. Results of the nationwide survey revealed:

  • Homemade, again: Thirty percent of U.S. adults have re-gifted homemade cookies and claimed them as self-made!
  • I Saw Mommy: Sixty-eight percent of couples who leave cookies and milk out for Santa on Christmas Eve know exactly who will eat the cookies.
  • Check the Stress: Twice as many Americans would rather spend the holiday season at a hotel than with their in-laws. In fact, nearly 1 in 4 Millennials agree that staying with family is one of their biggest holiday stressors.
  • Cookies On the Go: One in 5 Americans who have stayed at a hotel during the holidays made sure there was a plate of cookies waiting for Santa during their stay.
