Famous New York Hotel Brand Starts Expanding — Source: TOPHOTELPROJECTS

Pod Hotels, a famous and up and coming New York City Hotel brand, has begun to expand, doing so by introducing Pod DC, which is, of course, located in Washington DC.

The company will make its first foray outside of New York City into the capital of the United States with a micro hotel that will offer 245 rooms total for guests, located in Washington DC's Chinatown neighborhood. Officials say the property is slated to emphasize efficiency, and it will boast an extensive design style after mid century aesthetics with a modern twist. The design work will be handled by the New York City based firm of Stonehill and Taylor.

Perhaps the most interested design touch of note about The Pod DC, which is saying a lot because the work being done here is truly stunning is, the way its interior is curated with artwork and property, all of which serve to help the hotel stay grounded in a hyper local identify, reinforced further by lobby walls that are set to feature artists discovered and managed in partnership with CulturalDC. This, of course, mirrors an ongoing trend throughout the industry in which stylized and hip hotels such as Pod DC seek to create an authentic localized identify, rather than to replicate the cookie cutter, homogenized reliability that was expected and appreciated by past generations of luxury travelers.

Art and design aside, the sleek guest rooms in The Pod DC have multiple configurations, which range from bunkbeds to double beds to queens. Every room in the property, however, will be fully equipped with built-in storage as well as cutting edge technology that has been specially installed to maximize the amount of available space. The rooms will also boast attractive finishes, which will be royal blue but accented by cheerful yellow tones, which will be enhanced by their exposure to the ample natural light pouring in through all of the hotel's many large window openings.

Guests at The Pod DC will be left to enjoy the views of Chinatown and Penn Quarter, which will serve as a backdrop for all of the hotel's guests. Some of these views, the most sought after, will even face the iconic Chinatown-Friendship Archway, a famous fixture of Washington D.C. The bathrooms present in these guest rooms will feature sliding barn doors, as well as rain showerheads and terrazzo flooring.

Guests will also be able to enjoy Pod DC's onsite eatery, Crimson Diner, which will feature a warm design from architect Michael Francis of SAINT, or Studio for Architecture and Interiors. On the street-level, the Crimson Diner will have the new concept, Crimson Whiskey Bar. Finally, guests will find a rooftop venue that is both in and outdoors.

Let's take a look at another Pod Hotel currently under cunstruction. More contact details of these Hotel Projects and its suppliers and architects involved can be found on the TOPHOTELPROJECTS website.
