The Top 5 Countries for Hotel Projects in Southeast Asia [Infographic]

Five countries in Southeast Asia have healthy project pipelines, including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines

The Asia Pacific region is among the fastest growing for hotel properties in the world, with a number of countries having demonstrated significant project pipeline growth fueled by increased tourism in the region.


In fact, taking a specific look at Southeast Asia, one notices five countries with robust and healthy project pipelines, those countries being Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Indonesia is the regional leaders in terms of projects in its pipeline with 123, while Thailand has 87, Vietnam has 81, Malaysia has 78, and the Philippines has 40.

As tourism continues to boom in that area and project pipelines swell, it behooves the savvy hotel owner and operator to be well versed in some of the most notable projects in the area. With that in mind, let's take a look:

Hyatt Regency Bali

Currently under construction, once this large scale renovation project is completed in the first quarter of 2018, the newly renovated hotel will have 636 rooms for guests. This marks 40 years since the hotel's initial debut in 1973, and the renovation project retains many of the hotel's traditional design features while welcoming substantial enhancements to the overall experience that it offers guests. Ozo Pattaya

This hotel, which is currently in the planning phase, will feature 406 rooms once it is completed in the second quarter of 2019. With a dedicated entrance area and recreational facilities, OZO Pattaya will be positioned as a mid-scale hotel with signature beds in sleep-friendly rooms, energizing breakfasts and superior connectivity with high-speed wifi and easy plug-and-play integration for personal devices. Wyndham Soleil Danang

Once completed in the third quarter of 2018, this hotel, which is presently under construction, will have 779 hotel rooms for visitors to Vietnam. Located in the coastal city's Son Tra district, the Wyndham Soleil Danang will be set in a 57-story hotel tower. At 199 meters high it will become the tallest building in Danang and will form part of a major four-tower complex that will also feature 3,200 apartments, conference facilities, a retail and dining precinct and parks [READ MORE…]

Fairmont Kuala Lumpur

This 62-story luxury hotel is currently under construction, with a targeted end date for the third quarter of 2018. Once completed, it will have 750 new rooms to offer visitors to Malaysia. Fairmont Kuala Lumpur will also feature six dining outlets, as well as 2,787 square meters (30,000 square feet) of meeting and banquet space and recreational facilities including a swimming pool, health club and spa, and it will be located in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) development, which is home to the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers, the tallest twin buildings in the world [READ MORE…]
