Due to the wintery climate throughout most of the massive country, Russia isn't typically thought of as the sunniest of places. One thing that is looking bright, however, is the country's upcoming hotel project pipeline, which according to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database.

Information from the database shows that much hospitality industry growth is slated to take place in Russia in the years to come, particuliarly in the year 2020 and beyond. Let's take a look at the numbers: from now until the end of 2017 Russia has 13 hotel projects slated to debut, with 35 more coming in 2018, 18 more in 2019, and then a whopping 62 projects scheduled to open their doors in the year 2020 and beyond. That's a lot of growth.

What's also worth noting is that the vast majority of these projects are high up on the luxury scale, with 82 of Russia's forthcoming projects slated to be four stars, while 29 are going to be five star properties and 17 are going to be midscale 3 star properties.

With that in mind, it's important for the savvy hotel owner and operator to keep an eye on some of Russia's top projects, whether they're opening this December or they're not slated to wrap up into some time in the much distant future. Here they are:

Veduchi Ski Resort

Slated to open in the second quarter of 2018, the Veduchi Ski Resort will feature 400 rooms for guests who enjoy winter sports. This resort will also offer five star accommodations with a swimming pool, horseback riding, a mini golf course, a skating rink, and a helicopter ground.

Radisson Blu Olympiysky Hotel Moscow

This property is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2018 in Moscow, featuring a total of 379 five star rooms for guests when it does. The Radisson Blu Olympiysky Hotel, Moscow is located just north of the city center, adjacent to the Olympic sports arenas that were built there for the 1980 games. The hotel is part of a 75,000 square meter multifunctional development and enjoys excellent visibility: it rises 125 meter in the city's skyline. Hyatt Regency Vladivostok, Golden Horn will feature guest rooms and suites, food and beverage outlets, a spa and health club and banquet and meeting facilities. Located at the Korabelnaya Embankment in the city's central business district, the property will be situated along Svetlanskaya Street with the back of the hotel directly facing the Golden Horn Bay. Guests will be within walking distance of the city's main government and business buildings as well as its exclusive shore line.
