Freehand New York, the newest addition to the line of Freehand hotels, opened its doors to travelers and diners alike on January 16. The affordable hotel takes over an entire city block. Constructed in 1928, the building first saw life as the George Washington Hotel then went on to become apartments, dorms, and finally Freehand. Roman and Williams helped restore the original millwork and added new custom lighting and colors, as well as the plant work and textural accents throughout. It boasts three restaurants from Gabriel Stulman's Happy Cooking Hospitality, known for its West Village staples including Jeffrey's Grocery, Joseph Leonard, and Fairfax.
