Be Mate, the vacation rental company founded by entrepreneur Kike Sarasola, once again revolutionizes the market with the incorporation of a new business model: the comprehensive management of entire apartment buildings.

This pioneering project was recently launched with much success. Opened just weeks ago to an enthusiastic response from travelers, the Plaza de España Skyline by Be Mate in Madrid, Spain, is the first building that the company operates exclusively (comprehensive management).

The 3,500 m² building is located at Calle Cadarso 18, an excellent location next to the central Plaza de España and opposite the Temple of Debod, an unbeatable spot for anyone traveling to Madrid. The 8-floor building provides 24/7 reception service, 37 apartments and a garage for guest convenience.

Local firm Cat in a Square (www.catinasquare.com) handled the building construction and interior design, with the personal touch of architect Diego Gamazo de Roux and interior designer Pilar Sancho Thomas.

The challenge posed was to create a space that is cosmopolitan, modern, aesthetically harmonious and with a unique atmosphere. Above all, Cat in a Square aimed to create a building with the services and amenities of a hotel but the feeling, comfort and soul of a home.

The building features bright, well-distributed and open spaces. These 37 homes have stunning terraces and large west-facing windows that capitalize on the views and exceptional light unique to Madrid's sunsets.

In the words of the Cat in a Square: "We decorate homes with the idea of offering travelers a refuge, a little corner of rest and well-being in the heart of the city. As with any home, the decoration is eclectic, offering a mixture of styles and one-off pieces found in flea markets and auctions all over Europe. These are tied together with harmony, delicate colours, light and comfort as the main themes, supported by the use of warm, high-quality materials (wood, leather, cotton, wool and linen) and a colour palette featuring some bold and bright, yet tranquil tones. Painstakingly designed, the aesthetic and each piece have been carefully chosen for the specific space. Just like every home is unique, all 37 apartments are different and have been designed down to the smallest details".

The company continues with its ambitious international expansion plan after the excellent results in profitability reported at the end of 2017. Its €6 million euros in turnover, 40% from the international market, multiplied by 12 the roomnights sold and by 10 the company's turnover. The company continues to move forward with its plan to purchase apartments and buildings to manage exclusively, which will join the 600 it already manages and the 10,000 apartments available on its website.

The innovative company has grown every year since it was founded, with 2017 ending as the best year in Be Mate history. The company has sold 80,000 roomnights and 30,000+ guests have enjoyed this new way of traveling.

Be Mate now operates in 12 destinations, eight of them international (New York, Miami, Milan, Paris, Istanbul, Florence, Amsterdam, London and Rome) and the other four domestic (Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Granada).

Be Mate carefully analyzes every apartment it rents, taking into consideration high standards of style, quality and location, and only 1 out of every 5 is finally selected.
