Booking Holdings has named Glenn Fogel as CEO of Booking.com, with the incumbent, Gillian Tans, becoming chairwoman of the group's division.

The sudden change at the top of Booking.com, announced today, is effective immediately.

Fogel says under his stewardship, which he'll take on alongside his existing duties as president and CEO of Booking Holdings, he will "identify ways to drive more collaboration and integration to strengthen the company's positioning for long-term success."

The shift to chairwoman for Tans ends a three-year stint as CEO at Booking.com after she took over the reigns from Darren Huston.
