On Friday 20 April CityHub will launch on one of the most vibrant and trendy streets in Rotterdam. With its 126 futuristic sleeping units, a 'digital first' lobby and an app that guides visitors around the city, CityHub engages flawlessly with the needs of travel-savvy millennials who want to get out and explore, socialize with locals and share their experiences online in real-time. Rotterdam is hot and happening so it's the ultimate location for the newest branch of CityHub, which received the 'Best Innovation in Hotel Concept' award in 2016. The Rotterdam location marks the start of a worldwide rollout of this innovative hotel concept.

CityHub is a successful start-up launched by college buddies Sem Schuurkes (34) and Pieter van Tilburg (32). The youthful entrepreneurs set themselves the objective of adapting the traditional hotel experience to better suit contemporary sensibilities and technological possibilities, with the ultimate goal of making city trips cheaper and more accessible.

They came up with the idea for CityHub when they were travelling themselves. Schuurkes and Van Tilburg discovered that what was currently on offer didn't meet their requirements, and that there was no middle-ground whatsoever between hostels and hotels. They aim to plant CityHub firmly in that middle-ground. CityHub combines the privacy and comfort of a hotel with the community spirit and affordability of a hostel. This allows CityHub to target today's new generation of travellers aged 20-35 who want personalised travel experiences and who expect insider tips so they can get the most out of their city trip.

Sleep in a Hub, chill in the Hangout

The historical building on Witte de Withstraat features 126 sleekly designed sleeping units called 'Hubs'. Each Hub is fitted with a comfortable king-sized bed, WiFi, personalisable mood lighting and Bluetooth music streaming. Using their personal wristband, travellers can check in independently and serve themselves at the bar. Travelling has never been easier.

Experience Rotterdam like the locals do
During their stay, at any time and wherever they are, guests can ask advice from the CityHosts who are their key to the city. These young local heroes know all there is to know about Rotterdam, they're on call 24/7 through the CityHub app and they also circulate in the Hangout. The CityHosts know exactly where the best parties are going on and are up to speed on the latest trendy hotspots before normal tourists have even heard of them.

Stay connected everywhere with the CityHub app and WiFi-to-go
Travellers get exclusive access to the CityHub app, an interactive guide which includes a chat so that guests can connect with each other and share newly discovered locations. The app also lets you operate the mood lighting, set the alarm clock and stream music in the Hub. In addition, CityHub offers its guests WiFi-to-go: a mobile router enabling guests to check what's going on in the city at any time, from wherever they are in Rotterdam. Just one more way CityHub enhances the ultimate travel experience for a new generation of travellers.

CityHub Rotterdam officially launches on 20 April 2018. Hubs (for two guests) are available from €40 per night and can be booked at www.cityhub.com/rotterdam
