EHL Passugg takes second place twice at QS Reimagine Education Awards

The Reimagine Education Awards bring together start-ups, academic faculties and education providers for the future of teaching and learning to recognize the most innovative approaches to education in a global competition. The "Oscars" of education, so to speak.

EHL Passugg was awarded second place in the categories "Nurturing Employability" and "Social Sciences" with "Elysium - the multisensory Restaurant and Education Experience" from over 1500 applications from 39 countries. The prize was awarded to learning initiatives that demonstrated a clear link between the training of new skills and an increase in the employability of graduates.

A new educational vision

In times of digitalization, fast pace and cost optimization, emotions and unique experiences play an increasingly important role for travelers, hotel and restaurant guests. New skills and competencies are needed to actively shape such experiences as a host.

The importance of soft skills and emotional competence is therefore becoming increasingly important for restaurateurs and hoteliers. For this reason, EHL Passugg has developed a new vision of "Affective Hospitality" and, with the multisensory restaurant Elysium, has implemented a first sandbox to train students in these new fields of competence.

The innovative teaching and learning approach in the multisensory restaurant Elysium

With Elysium, EHL Passugg has developed a multisensory restaurant concept on its campus. On the one hand it serves as a laboratory for the application of theoretical knowledge in the new emotionalized and experience-oriented hospitality. On the other hand it brings a unique, trend-setting gastronomic experience closer to a broad audience.

Elysium combines the latest research, new technologies and a creative mentor-student dynamic into a new way pedagogical approach. The students are not only integrated into the training, but also take responsibility for the entire production chain of the multisensory restaurant.

The hotel management students take part in the storytelling, projection, design and preparation of the menus, the plate decoration and can stage the choreography to delight and surprise their guests. EHL Passugg students not only receive theoretical content, but can also implement their own ideas directly in the multisensory restaurant Elysium - of course always accompanied by professional mentors and experts.

Felix Benesch (director), Nik Schmid (actor) and the company Nonconformform, which specializes in multimedia projections, were involved in the development of the concept.
