February data depicts a world that ‘no longer exists’
While the U.S. hotel industry saw growth across each performance metric during February, the current reality dramatically overtakes what positive growth the industry did have just one month ago.
HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee - Never have I written a piece that I feel is so out of date, so not useful or so inconsequential.
I write this simply to maintain the time-series and the sense of continuity, knowing full well that our February data portraits a world that no longer exists.
Reality has dramatically overtaken the data from one month ago.

A look at the metrics
U.S. revenue per available room increased 1.7% in February, driven by average daily rate growth of 1.4%. Demand increased at a healthy clip (+2.3%) and actually outpaced the supply growth number of 2.1%.
Unfortunately this is the last monthly data report with positive growth, likely for some time to come.
