protel has launched a new pricing structure for hotels struggling as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. Another industry first from protel.

protel swiftly realised that the hospitality industry was in for some serious financial trouble: no income means no cash flow, and no cash flow means that hotels can't immediately pay suppliers and staff, so they could be forced to eventually close their doors. "We wanted to come up with a pricing structure that would not only make PMS truly affordable in the short term but also support hotels long after COVID-19 has passed. It was important for us that the model would be representative of our sincere commitment to the hospitality community. A model that can carry our relationships into the future" said Linda Vallner, VP of Business Development at protel.

This COVID-19 relief pricing is based on intelligent calculations that look at the real occupancy of the hotel, ensuring accuracy and transparency for all parties. A feasibility calculator is also provided so that every hotel can do their own estimates to see how the model would benefit them.

Let's have a look at the most beneficial factors of this COVID-19 relief pricing for hotels:

  • No pre-payment
  • Initial sign-up discount
  • 10% discount when hotels choose to pay by credit card or direct debit
  • Hotels can lock into this favourable pricing for two years

The global hospitality research company STR said that for the week of 8-14 March 2020, hotel occupancy was down an eye-watering 24.4% to 53% year-over-year. Meanwhile, revenue per available room, a key industry metric, fell a massive 32.5% to $63.74. According to Statista, "As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the global travel, and tourism market is predicted to see a loss of 100.8 million jobs worldwide in 2020." The hospitality industry appears to be in critical condition, with immediate revenue - or rather, the loss of - being the main characteristic.

"It is up to each one of us to do our part to contribute to the recovery of the hospitality industry," says Vallner. If you would like to know more contact protel and see what a difference protel PMS can make to your hotel.
