A group of 14 travel industry leaders asked President Donald Trump and top members of Congress Monday to expand coronavirus testing as a way to revive the country's struggling travel sector.

The U.S. Travel Association letter, addressed to Trump and House and Senate leaders of both parties, requested they include expanded testing in their next round of coronavirus relief legislation.

The travel leaders, who represent hotel, casino and car rental companies, among other interests, wrote that the U.S. travel industry has lost more than half the jobs it supported in 2019, and they project that the drop in travel-related spending will cost the U.S. economy $1.2 trillion by year's end.
