Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown, a 238-room premier hotel, is slated to open its doors next month. The hotel expects to offer business and leisure travelers a chic, intuitive and refined stay right in the heart of downtown Phoenix on the famed theater row. In addition to top-notch facilities and amenities, the property is pleased to announce its leadership team, including: David Belk as General Manager; Griselda Chacon as Director of Sales; Jes sica Uy as Associate Director Sales; and Mike Shippy as Director of Operations.

David Belk will serve as general manager of Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown, bringing extensive hospitality experience and deep roots in Phoenix to his role. Belk is eager to join a hospitality brand on the cutting edge of innovation, continually pushing the status quo. As general manager, Belk will be directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel, including overseeing and managing colleagues while ensuring guests continue to experience the world-class service the Hyatt Place brand is known for. Belk hopes to establish Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown as an involved, reliable downtown neighbor and is eager to give back to the Phoenix community.

Griselda Chacon has been named Director of Sales at Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown. A 14-year Hyatt veteran, Chacon will be responsible for providing sales service and support to travelers and meeting planners based in and trave ling to Phoenix. She and her team will seek to enrich the unique experiences Hyatt guests receive and enhance Phoenix’s continued growth in the downtown area that is already so culturally and historically abundant.

Jessica Uy will leverage her innate ability to cultivate strong working relationships with clients at every level as the hotel’s Associate Sales Director. In this role, Uy will work with Chacon to fill the hotel’s calendar of events from social gatherings to corporate meetings. Uy is inspired by Hyatt’s strong focus on caring for guests and colleagues and plans to keep wellbeing and inclusion top of mind as she steps into her new role.

Mike Shippy boasts a wealth of experience across a variety of well-known hotel brands which he will bring to his new role as Director of Operations for Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown. Shippy will leverage his market experience and property knowledge to cultivate the unique, memorable experience Hyatt’s gues ts and diners have come to expect and looks forward to propelling the brand forward in a new and exciting way.
