Accor Receive a AAA Rating in the Annual Investment Ranking Austria

Horwath HTL Austria, partner of Horwath HTL, the world's largest hotel consulting network, partnered with the TREUGAST Solution Group again to rank the performance of the leading hotel groups in Austria in the 5th Annual Investment Ranking Austria 2011. Accor hotels received a AAA rating, the very first time the rating AAA was assigned.

Accor hotels received a AAA rating, the very first time the rating AAA was assigned.

The Investment Ranking Austria 2011 report, which has been published for the 5th time by TREUGAST Institute of Applied Hospitality Sciences in partnership with Horwath HTL Austria. The output is achieved by performance-oriented screening, which analyses the annual development of the most notable hotel groups in Austria and show the 'winners' and 'losers' of the industry. Dr. Konstantin Ploberger presented the Investment Ranking 2011 at the EXPO Real in Munich.

Accor Austria received AAA

The clear winner of this year's Investment Ranking Austria is Accor and the Group achieved the only AAA valuation. The CEO Stéphane Engelhard applied himself and his management board to a workshop concerning the aspects of the Ranking and worked hard to gain the score. Beside new openings in Vienna (e.g. Sofitel Vienna) and further more projects in the pipeline, the group shows big commitment to sustainability. Accor works with Fair Trade products founded the "Earth Guest" platform and achieved certification by the ISO-System. With its 10 different brands Accor has a well-balanced business mix with 44% corporate guests, 8% from MICE business and 48% of leisure guests. With its rebranding of the IBIS economy brands, Accor has show itself able to adapt to new challenges in the marketplace.

Marriott International and ROBINSON Clubs did not take part in the Investment Ranking Austria 2011, but a great number of new participants took part in this years survey, including: Wombat's, RIMC-Amedia, HMG (Fleming's), Hinteregger Hotels & Resorts and NH Hotels

Ranking Methodolgy

All together 15-hotel companies took part in the 2011 Ranking, including some companies which have been active in Austria for just for a short time or are operating with only one hotel, like Alps & Cities, Meininger, Motel One and PMT Tourismus. Companies that mostly or exclusively operate as franchise suppliers or which have structures of hotel cooperation's are not included in the Ranking. Essential for participation is that the respective company runs at least 2 hotels in Austria and takes on the responsibility for the management.

The companies are evaluated by 200 criteria, which are constantly refined. This lead to the addition of questions to the questionnaire that looked at issues of sustainability, social media and securities. The criteria are summarized in 38 criteria groups and 6 criteria clusters: financial performance, operating performance, portfolio analyses, strategies, reservation systems including marketing- and organization structure and contracting & partnership. The performance-oriented Investment Ranking is focused future-oriented and puts the hotel operator in the limelight. The output shows especially practical and decision relevant use and therefore it is very interesting for banks, project developer and investors. The findings are providing an additional evaluation criterion. The Ranking is based on a table of 9 grades from AAA (excellent) to C (not recommendable).
