Wyndham International Realigns Extended Stay Division Renaming Brand Summerfield Suites by Wyndham

The company said it would relocate the division office of the extended stay hotels from Wichita, Kansas, to Wyndham International's corporate headquarters in Dallas beginning this month. Wyndham has been consolidating division offices located in other cities into the Dallas headquarters to obtain sales and operational efficiencies.

James D. Carreker, chairman and chief executive officer of Wyndham International, said, "As we sharpen our focus towards building the Wyndham brand, we are extending its reach to meet a variety of corporate and leisure travel needs. We believe that our extended-stay hotel brands are valuable assets that are consistent with our focus on the upscale lodging segment."

Fred J. Kleisner, president and chief operating officer added, "By adding the Wyndham brand to this segment, we expect attractive growth rates and margins. In addition, we believe that Summerfield Suites by Wyndham will continue to contribute solidly to our performance and further strengthen our competitive position."

Tony Isaac, one of the founders of Summerfield Suites, will assist in the transition process and will remain in Wichita, Kansas to pursue other business interests.

The Summerfield Suites division will be led by Chris Gebert, a Summerfield Suites vice president, who is being promoted to senior vice president of operations. He will report to Les Bentley, president of the company's Wyndham Hotels & Resorts® division. John Cantelle continues to serve as vice president of operations for Sierra Suites reporting to Gebert.

The company's upscale Summerfield Suites Hotel brand is a recognized leader in the upscale extended stay segment, with 37 hotels in 16 states. Sierra Suites is an emerging midscale extended stay brand with 16 hotels in 8 states.
