CLEVELAND / May 1, 2001--Hyatt Hotels Corporation cut the ribbon on its 202nd hotel today, Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. The 293-room hotel is located in The Old Cleveland Arcade, a 111-year-old National Historic Landmark that has been exquisitely restored to its original grandeur after $60 million and 18 months of renovation.

Cutting the ceremonial ribbon were Scott D. Miller, president, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Tom Weeks, president, LR Development and Michael R. White, Mayor of Cleveland.

"Hyatt is proud to open its first hotel in Cleveland inside this magnificent building," said Miller. "We are grateful for all the support we have received during the past 18 months from the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, the Gund Foundation, the 1525 Foundation, the Cleveland Foundation and others. The elegance of this historic landmark creates the environment Hyatt strives to deliver to its guests."

The opening of Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade has been a catalyst for the ongoing revitalization of the once-storied Euclid Avenue in Downtown Cleveland. The Arcade is owned by Old Arcade LLC, a joint venture between Hyatt Hotels Corporation and LR Development Company.

Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade has 293 luxury rooms in a setting unlike any other in Cleveland or the country. Creatively designed guestrooms and suites are found throughout two nine-story towers and the top three floors of a five-story atrium concourse. Due to The Arcade's unique floor plan, the hotel will offer 57 distinctive room designs, many with dramatic high-ceilings and ample space for the business and leisure traveler alike.

The lobby level of the hotel will showcase the $2 million 210-seat '1890 at The Arcade' restaurant, a contemporary bistro which features a wine bar, a 75-seat lounge and private dining spaces for small groups.

Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade will feature many noteworthy amenities travelers have come to expect from Hyatt. For special events, meetings and corporate functions, the hotel will offer four boardrooms and five meeting rooms, covering a total of 12,000 square feet. The fitness center features the latest in strength and cardiovascular training equipment. A well-equipped business center with high-speed Internet access will be accessible 24 hours a day. The hotel also features a presidential suite, two VIP suites, one penthouse suite and 37 atrium suites.

Found in the heart of Cleveland's Historic Gateway District, the hotel is a short walk to Tower City shopping, Playhouse Square Theatre District, Gund Arena, Jacobs Field, the Cleveland Convention Center, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Museum. Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade is located on Euclid Avenue, which was once home to Millionaire's Row and claimed John D. Rockefeller as one of its first residents.

The first two floors of the main arcade concourse will feature upscale retail including restaurants, a day spa, a florist, fine jewelry and other boutique shopping. Guests can stroll along the arcade's sidewalks, which are lined with brass street lamps, while gilded griffins watch from above. All of these features shine brilliantly after years of neglect.
