First Denver HRTM MBAs in Hospitality Property Development and Asset Management to Graduate

The School's first class of MBAs in hospitality property development and asset management will graduate on June 6th. Graduation of the first class confirms the vision of the industry-academe task force that identified the need for an MBA program producing hospitality real estate professionals.

For the six students comprising the first class, completion of the curriculum represents the preparation of countless cash flow analyses, management letters, and case studies. Added to this were excursions to "kick the dirt" for a potential acquisitions, apprenticeships to local real estate firms, where the students accomplished various hospitality asset management assignments, and participation in a management contract negotiation. Above all, the completion of the MBA represents some two dozen intensive seminars with hospitality-industry real estate and investment professionals who participated as guest faculty. "We're especially proud of the success we have had integrating industry practitioners into the curriculum," notes Professor Paul Beals, lead instructor of the MBA in hospitality property development and asset management. "Not only does the participation of industry professionals confirm the value they place on our program; it also provides our students with insight into the dynamics of hospitality real estate in a way that no textbook or classroom exercise could."
