With 10 years of experience in the hotel industry, Marisa is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources’ strategies to accomplish overall business objectives by effectively positioning the hotel in the market and reinforcing the Marriott brand. After graduating with a Master Degree in Business Administration from University Utara Malaysia, she began her hospitality career with a boutique hotel before pursuing her career working for international hotel chains. Her career with Marriott International started in 2010, where she was the Assistant Human Resources Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Patong Beach and continued her journey with other international hotel chains before re-joining Marriott International as the Director of Human Resources at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa. Most recently, she was appointed as the Director of Human Resources for the successful opening of Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Nai Yang Beach. Marisa’s role was crucial as she was tasked to strategize Human Resources’ standards of operating procedures, pre-opening team trainings and embodied Marriott cultures and core values to all associates of the hotel. Some of Marisa’s achievements include “2014 Marriott’s Evolving Next Gen Leader in Employee Relations Award of Asia Pacific region”, “2015 Best Employer in Employee Relations Award by Labor Department”, as well as “2015 Best Practice in Heart of House Corridor and Career Development Center”. As a firm believer in teamwork, Marisa is a highly motivated and people-oriented Human Resources leader. Leo Spriggs, President and CEO of Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC), has promoted Libby Shaw to VP of Human Resources. Ms Shaw will be responsible for a wide variety of duties including the administration and management of recruitment and staffing, benefits administration, supervise workers’ compensation and ongoing development and training.
Atlanta-based Hotel Equities recently named Juanita Stallworth as the Vice President of Human Resources for the firm with 100+ hotels in 22 states nationwide. Ms. Stallworth joined Hotel Equities from the Atlanta office of Samsung Electronics where she served as a Manager of Human Resources for the past two years. She held the top HR position at Samsung, a Fortune 100 provider of electronics, and partnered with the firm’s executive management to grow the business group through innovative human resources management. After beginning her career at EFL, Inc. in Chicago where she rose to serve as Vice President of Human Resources, she moved to Atlanta as Associate Development Supervisor/Human Resources for The Home Depot. Additional positions in Atlanta included Director of Human Resources for Papa John’s International and Regional Manager, Human Resources, RadioShack Corporation. Ms. Stallworth holds a B.A. degree in Communication Arts from Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois. In addition to holding several professional certifications, Ms. Stallworth is a member of the Society Human Resource Management and two professional affiliate organizations.
Appointed as Director of Human Resources, Kari Schlagheck brings with her 20 years of Human Resource Management experience in all areas of the field. Her background includes five years at RIM Hospitality as Director of Human Resources and Senior Manager of Associate Relations where she collaborated with Hotel General Managers from over 50 hotels in the group to implement training programs, recruitment, and performance appraisal. She also previously served as Human Resources Generalist at Maximum Petroleum DBA General Petroleum and in Human Resources Manager positions with Levy Restaurants, Hilton Hotels Corporation’s Hilton Suites – Orange/Anaheim and Embassy Suites – Anaheim South, and the Queen Mary Hotel and Attraction. Schlagheck is responsible for leading the Human Resources function for the pre-opening phase of the hotel and the ongoing HR functions through operations including recruitment of the opening team of 90 employees, and leading the on-boarding program for the team including a partnership with a trainer for a two-week in-depth guest services program based on emotional intelligence and focused to create the hotels culture.
Nicole Leier, newly appointed Director of Human Resources, brings a wealth of experience in HR and training. Leier was at Hyatt Hotels Corporation for 20 years, overseeing three hotels in the Los Angeles region. At Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Leier will be responsible for building culture, employee engagement and training.
Davidson Hotels & Resorts is delighted to announce the appointment of Holly Lawson as corporate director of people and culture for its lifestyle and luxury division, Pivot Hotels & Resorts.
