Miami Beach is a famously glamorous destination, but travelers who want a more affordable chance to explore can check out the first US location of a hip European hostel chain.

Generator, which has popular hostels in European cities like London, Dublin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Copenhagen, is opening its first US outpost in Miami on 12 September.

The new accommodation is 15 minutes from the airport and a two-minute walk from the shores of Miami Beach, simplifying things for those looking to spend as much time as possible in the Florida sun.

Miami is famous for its incredible art deco architecture, popular beaches and Cuban influence. The new hostel is described as fusing "old American glamour with Cuban spice". There are 105 rooms in the hostel - but that doesn't mean you have to be hanging out in a bunk bed; 65% of the rooms are private and all shared rooms, private suites and female-only dorms have en-suite bathrooms.
