Meliá Hotels International has announced further growth in Bulgaria with the addition of a 987-room hotel in Sunny Beach on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, a destination where it already operates six hotels with 2,400 rooms.

Meliá Sunny Beach will open in 2020 and consists of three buildings: one completely new and the other two renovated before opening to bring them up to the quality and service standards of the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand, delivering Spanish hospitality through a passion for service and a focus on guest satisfaction and well-being.

The hotel is located in one of the most popular destinations in Bulgaria, attracting thousands of travellers from all over Europe every year thanks to its long beach, wide range of water sports and attractions and its lively nightlife, all guaranteeing fun and entertainment throughout the day. The hotel complex will feature six restaurants serving Mediterranean and contemporary international cuisine, a lobby bar in each building, numerous outdoor swimming pools (including a water park, which will feature a new extreme slide, the Flying Wave), a fully equipped wellness area with a gym, indoor pool, sauna, Turkish baths and massage cabins, and several meeting rooms for business travellers.

The Mallorcan hotel company is the world leader in resort hotels and began operations in Bulgaria in 2007 with the opening of Meliá Grand Hermitage, a five-star hotel with 727 rooms near the city of Varna, the second largest city in the country. The company currently operates five other holiday hotels under the Sol by Meliá brand, four of them in Nessebar (Sol Nessebar Bay, Sol Nessebar Mare, Sol Nessebar Palace and Sol Marina Palace) and the other in Obzor, the Sol Luna Bay Resort Hotel.
