Riu Ventura Debuts in Cancun as RIU Expands Mexican Portfolio

RIU Hotels & Resorts has expanded its presence in Mexico with the opening of the Riu Ventura, a new property in Cancun's hotel zone next to the well known Playa Delfines beach. The hotel marks a further step in the chain's strategy to diversify its product offering while maintaining its 24 hour all inclusive model, and introduces an adults only area with a pool and Sky Bar on the sixth floor, a first for RIU in Mexico.

The Riu Ventura has 705 contemporary rooms, described as light and spacious. Among them are 36 first floor units with private swim up pools that have been raised to provide better views and greater privacy. It is the first RIU hotel in Mexico to include this room category.

Food and beverage are a central part of the concept. Guests can choose from a range of international restaurants including Asian cuisine at Kaori, Mexican dishes at Agave and Italian classics at Rimini, along with the fusion restaurant Kulinarium and a traditional steakhouse. The main buffet restaurant features live cooking stations, complemented by two casual outlets: Pepe's Food, focused on grilled items, and Tiki Tako, serving Mexican tacos. The Sports Bar, built around a new American country theme, offers an à la carte selection of American style favourites, alongside drinks and snacks available around the clock.

The property includes six bars in total. The rooftop Sky Bar combines cocktails with an adults only pool and wide views over the Caribbean, while the ground floor areas feature four outdoor pools and a water play zone aimed at children.

Entertainment and activities form another pillar of the offering. In addition to a full daytime and evening programme for different age groups, guests have access to the RIU Party events hosted at the nearby Hotel Riu Caribe. The four themed parties, White Party, Jungle Party, Pink Party and Neon Party, take place weekly and have become a signature element of the brand's entertainment line up.

Facilities are designed to appeal to families as well as couples and groups. The hotel has a fully equipped gym and a Renova Spa that provides massages and beauty treatments. Children can join organised activities at the RIU Land kids' club under the supervision of the entertainment team.

With the opening of the Riu Ventura, RIU now operates six hotels in Cancun, alongside six in Playa del Carmen and three in Costa Mujeres. In total, the chain has 15 properties in Quintana Roo and 23 in Mexico, where it employs more than 12,800 people. The company has also announced further investment plans from 2026 onwards, including the refurbishment of Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun and Hotel Riu Palace México in Playa del Carmen, followed by the construction of Hotel Riu Palace Quintana Roo in Costa Mujeres.
