Villa d'Este La Collezione, the new brand which includes Villa d'Este on Lake Como, Villa La Massa in Florence, and Miralago Luxury Apartments in Cernobbio, is delighted to announce the opening of Palazzo Venezia in Como, the first 5-star hotel in the city to join The Leading Hotels of the World.
Deniz Ömürgönülşen, LHW's VP of Member Experience, welcomes this new chapter for both the city of Como and the evolution of the Villa d'Este Group: "Palazzo Venezia opens a magnificent new chapter on Lake Como. As a sister property to the Leading Hotels of the World members Villa d'Este and Villa La Massa, it enriches our heritage in one of Italy's most beloved destinations, offering travellers a charming and tranquil city retreat. Open all year round, Palazzo Venezia strengthens our commitment to independent Italian hospitality and to creating extraordinary experiences, increasingly sought after by our guests. We are delighted to welcome this new hotel to the LHW collection.

Acquired by Villa d'Este S.p.A. from the LarioHotels Group in April 2025, Palazzo Venezia, an 19th-century residence overlooking Piazza Cavour and Lake Como, has undergone a rebranding. The transition was carried out in continuity with the previous operational structure, maintaining the hotel's long-standing staff and ensuring a smooth management shift into the new identity. The hotel's architectural character, inspired by classic Italian and Venetian styles, offers refined, discreet, and attentive hospitality. The bright rooms and suites, designed to ensure privacy and comfort, offer a harmonious retreat for moments of tranquillity. Its position, between the lakeside promenade and historic Piazza Cavour, provides easy access to the city's main points of interest

Guests of Palazzo Venezia can enjoy the facilities of Villa d'Este, including the iconic floating swimming pool and Sporting Club, with transportation services connecting the two properties by land and lake

Barbara Gibellini, formerly Resident Manager of Villa d'Este and now Acting General Manager of Palazzo Venezia, states: "The takeover and opening of Palazzo Venezia marks a historic milestone, bringing Villa d'Este's art of hospitality and the prestige of The Leading Hotels of the World to the city of Como. It is not merely an expansion of our reach, but a natural evolution of our way of interpreting excellence: sharing our culture, our values, and our style in new residences where history, elegance, and contemporary spirit blend harmoniously. Taking on the role of General Manager is an honour. I embrace this new challenge with the passion I have always dedicated to guest experiences, along with the great responsibility of carrying the Villa d'Este legacy forward. I will lead the team with enthusiasm as we gradually integrate with the vision and service philosophy that define us. I am certain that this journey will create an important new chapter in our story, to be built together day by day.

Great importance will be given to the Food & Beverage offering. The restaurant Altariva will be led by Executive Chef Alessandro Rinaldi, who continues his journey within the property and offers a cuisine rooted in the local territory and interpreted with contemporary sensibility. The rooftop bar, located on the same terrace, offers an atmosphere suspended between sky and water, where mixology and hospitality meet in a ritual dedicated to aperitivo and evening moments.
In spring 2026, Caffè Cavour will also open. Once a beloved 19th-century pastry shop, the historic city landmark is located on the ground floor of Palazzo Venezia and will undergo full restoration in the coming months. The new opening will reinterpret its identity in line with the style and gastronomic philosophy of Villa d'Este La Collezione.
