Lionel P. HouliatGroupe Germain Co-President Mme. Christiane Germain announces the appointment of Lionel Houliat as Hôtel Le Germain Calgary General Manager, effective immediately. With two decades of international experience at five-star hotels and resorts, Lionel was most recently General Manager for Sofitel Luxury Hotels in China. Tracing this discerning and accomplished hospitality leader’s hotel and restaurant management career, further highlights include: An early start in management as assistant restaurant director of the Four Seasons Hotel, Montreal. Extensive experience at highly visible properties including eight with Five-Star designation and three with Five-Star Diamond ratings: Hotel Mulia in Jakarta; Kempinski Hotel Baltschug in Moscow; and Hotel des Bergues in Geneva. With Canadian, French and Swiss heritage, Lionel is fluently bilingual in English and French. Lionel began his hotel-management career after receiving a Diploma in Hotel Business Management from the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec in 1988. In 1991, he furthered his hospitality management study. He earned two certificates – one in Hospitality Industry and Staff Training and one in Food and Beverage Management – from the Educational Institute in Michigan State.
