Appointed General Manager
At Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos, Mexico
Messerli brings years of experience to her role as GM of Hotel El Ganzo. She began her
career as sales manager of the opening operations team at The Westin Hotel in Washington,
D.C. and moved quickly up the ladder with Westin, joining their Camino Real division in
Mexico, where she served as Corporate Director of Sales before departing to take on the role
of director of sales and marketing at Acapulco’s iconic Las Brisas hotel in 1992. Following that
position, Messerli served as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Mandarin Oriental Mexico
City, and then as Vice President of Marketing & Sales for the Presidente InterContinental
Hotels & Resorts out of its headquarters in Mexico City.
Having honed her skills at a number of prestigious hotel companies, Messerli in 1999, moved
to San Francisco, CA, where she opened an independent marketing and communications
consultancy. A few years later, she was wooed back to Mexico and, for nearly a decade,
presided as general manager at Marquis Los Cabos (presently known as Secrets Marquis Los
Cabos) where her leadership helped the hotel maintain an average 93 percent guest
satisfaction rating, above average GOP, and secure an esteemed Leading Hotels of the World
affiliation. During her tenure there, Messerli also spent seven years on the Board of Directors
of the Los Cabos CVB, responsible for PR, marketing and special events.
Most recently, Messerli served as General Manager of All Baja Solutions, where she coached
ecological best practices for hotels, restaurants, hospitals and other businesses in Los Cabos.
She was also invited to serve as board member of CREST (Center for Responsible
Travel/Stanford University), a non-profit research institution whose mission is to promote
responsible tourism policies and practices globally so that local communities may thrive and
steward their cultural resources and biodiversity.
