Jose MojicaM&R Hotel Management today announced the appointment of Jose Mojica as general manager of the Comfort Inn Midtown West hotel on New York's West 48th Street between 10th & 11th avenues. Mojica, a 22-year hospitality industry veteran who has served in hotel management roles in New Jersey, New York and Puerto Rico, will oversee all aspects of the 89-room hotel's operations, including sales, marketing, sercurity, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting. He previously was general manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Edison, New Jersey. From 2010 to 2011, he was area general manager for the Gem Hotel Group, responsible for both the Gem Hotel Midtown West and the Comfort Inn Convention Center, both in Manhattan. From 2006-2010, he served consecutively as general manager of three hotels in Puerto Rico: the Courtyard by Marriott in Aguadilla, the Courtyard in Miramar and the Holiday Inn Express in San Juan. Earlier in his career, Mojica held positions in human resources, food and beverage, housekeeping and front desk at hotels in San Juan and Manhattan. He also was a consultant in operations in hotels in San Juan and Kenilworth, New Jersey. Mojica earned an associate's degree in travel and tourism at Berkeley College, New York. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is certified as a human resources specialist as well as in revenue management and alcohol consumption safety. He has received general manager certification from Choice Hotels International, Marriott International and InterContinental Hotels Group. In addition to the Comfort Inn Midtown West, M&R Hotel Management's portfolio in Manhattan includes the recently opened 271-room Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square, the 132- room Holiday Inn NYC – Lower East Side and the 177-room Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West.
