Mike CuthbertsonMike Cuthbertson is the new managing director of Destination Residences Hawai‘i, a resort management company specializing in exclusive vacation residences on Maui for more than 30 years. Its luxury portfolio presents over 270 private homes within seven resort communities in Wailea and Makena including Wailea Beach Villas, Wailea Elua Village, Wailea Ekahi Village, Wailea Ekolu Village, Wailea Grand Champions, Polo Beach Club and Makena Surf. Cuthbertson leads the Destination Residences Hawai‘i’s team in overseeing all the resort properties, expanding guest service experienc e and growing the brand. Before joining Destination Residences Hawai‘i, Cuthbertson held management positions with resort hospitality industry leaders including Intrawest, Playground Destination Properties, Hyatt Residences Clubs, Island Outpost Hotels, Carefree Resorts and Grand Bay Hotels in destinations such as Tuscany, Miami and Aspen. He moved to Hawaii in 2012 as managing director of development and principal broker for Timber Resorts on Maui and then Kauai. While on Kauai, Cuthbertson was an active member of the community. He supported and raised money for the Kauai Lifeguard Association and Wilcox Hospital, and served on the board of directors for Kauai Visitors Bureau. He plans on continuing his philanthropic work on Maui. The decision to return to Maui and join the Destination Residences Hawai’i family was easy for Cuthbertson and his family. “We always knew we would ret urn to Maui. We could not be more excited about joining the Wailea community with a company that shares and practices the same values as our family. It’s a perfect fit.” He and his family are already living the culture and active lifestyle of the destination. Their favorite authentic experiences to share as a family are hiking the Na‘ili‘ili Haele (Four Waterfalls), stand-up paddle surfing at Launiupoko and diving at Molokini Island. Cuthbertson holds a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on environmental policy and economics from the University of Washington.
