Andrea FosterMarcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized hotel owner and management company, today announced that Andrea Foster, senior vice president of development, was recognized as one of the “30 Influential Women in Hospitality” by Hotel Management magazine. Foster was recognized among 30 trailblazing women for her leadership, direction and dedication to the hospitality industry. A 20-year hospitality veteran, Foster is responsible for marketing Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ management capabilities and seeking potential acquisition, joint venture and third-party management opportunities for the company. During her tenure, she has raised awareness of the Marcus Hotels & Resorts brand, which recently added two new properties to its portfolio: the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District and Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel in Chapel Hill, N.C. Foster shares her passion for hospitality and success with many of her colleagues and is inspired to serve others – including mentoring other women in the industry. Foster joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2015 from PKF Consulting|CBRE Hotels, where she served as managing director, leading the firm’s Boston office and overseeing its national spa advisory practice. She also served as vice president, marketing and business development for Miraval, a top-rated destination spa resort and healthy lifestyle brand. Her extensive experience also includes operations management positions with boutique branded and independent hotel properties on the East and West coasts. During her career, Foster has worked on a variety of assignments involving market positioning and repositioning, feasibility analysis, appraisals, operational analysis, sales and marketing analysis, spa studies, impact studies and tourism studies. She has become a key voice at hotel investment conferences, is a member of the Lodging Industry Investment Council, co-founder of Boston Lodging Pulse, and is the co-founder and co-chair of Boston University School of Hospitality Administration’s “5th Gear Shift: Women Powering and Navigating Their Careers” symposium that began in 2017. In 2016, she was recognized by Lodging magazine as one of the “Top Women in Lodging.” Foster is also president emeritus of the Cornell Hotel Society New England Chapter, scholarship chair for ISPA (International Spa Association), and is a regular speaker at the hospitality schools at Cornell University and Boston University. Foster is also the co-chair of The Marcus Corporation’s 2017 United Way Campaign.
