Michael Young

Sheraton Kauai Resort proudly announces the promotion of Michael Young to director of food & beverage at the 20-acre oceanfront resort in the heart of Po'ipū Beach. In his new position, Young's primary focus will be to oversee all food and beverage operations at the resort, including its signature restaurant, RumFire Poipu Beach, Lava's on Poipu Beach, the oceanfront 'Auli'i Lū'au, Link@Sheraton Café and the resort's banquet and catering offerings.

Young was first hired in 2014 as chef de cuisine for RumFire and was promoted to the resort's executive chef in 2016. A seasoned culinary professional, he has more than 25 years of experience from front of the house to opening and running his own restaurant. Young holds an A.O.S. in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy, and he trained at Aqua San Francisco under the tutelage of Michelin Star-rated and two-time, James Beard award-winning chef Michael Mina. He has appeared on the Food Network in shows such as "Cutthroat Kitchen" and "Chef Hunter." Young previously held positions at Merriman's Fish House on Kaua'i and The Grand Wailea on Maui.
