Matt Bailey

Carmel Valley Ranch, the award-winning resort playground in the Carmel Valley on California's Central Coast, has appointed hospitality veteran Matt Bailey as managing director of the 500-acre property. Bailey, who brings a wealth of knowledge to his role with more than 35 years of hotel and resort experience across the country, will guide daily and long-term operations for Carmel Valley Ranch.

Most recently, Bailey served five years as president and chief operating officer for Aqua-Aston Hospitality in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was an integral part of advancing the company's global growth strategy. Prior to Aqua-Aston, Bailey was managing director at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort in Wailea, Hawaii. His previous experience includes serving as senior vice president of operations at Aston Hotels in Honolulu, Hawaii; co-founder/executive vice president at Fandango Resorts in Park City, Utah; and vice president & general manager at Sundance Mountain Resort in Sundance, Utah.

Bailey holds a degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is a car enthusiast, avid reader and photographer in his free time.

A meandering hillside resort celebrated for its wide array of playful activities and outdoor adventures, Carmel Valley Ranch is home to a four-acre pinot noir vineyard, a three-acre organic garden, an 18-hole Pete Dye golf course, the treetop Spa Aiyana and much more. Thoughtful experiences for guests and groups include everything from immersive beekeeping, sustainable wildcrafting and sunset hilltop yoga to educational farmstead experiences helmed by local artisans. Throughout 2019, the resort will unveil a collection of enhancements including refreshed guest suite accommodations and meeting spaces, a brand-new marketplace and creamery with programming, updates to the Golf Clubhouse and new programming including hatchet throwing.
