Malmaison is named after the Château de Malmaison located on the outskirts of Paris. This was the home of Napoléon Bonaparte after his return to France from Egypt. Malmaison hotels are located primarily in city centres and are mid-sized, operating in the "boutique/lifestyle" market. Typically the hotels have a bar, brasserie, private dining room and meeting rooms of various sizes. Some of the hotels have additional facilities such as a champagne bar and a spa and most have gyms.
