Grand Hyatt Shanghai Becomes First Hotel in the World to Deploy The Jointly-Developed Payment Gateway of Bank of China and MICROS-Fidelio For the Hospitality Industry in People's Republic of China

COLUMBIA, Md., Oct. 12 / The Grand Hyatt Shanghai, owned by China Jin Mao Group Company Limited, became the first hotel in the world to deploy the jointly developed Credit Card Processing System-Payment Gateway (PG), known as Bank of China's Bank Merchant POS (BMP). MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific, a subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc.
The newly-formed strategic alliance will provide value-added service to hotels and merchants through a B2B, e-commerce environment. PG/BMP enhances guests' check-in and check-out times and dramatically streamlines hotels and merchant operations, thus resulting in significant cost savings.
Mr. Wang Bao Chen, Chairman and President of the China Jin Mao Group Co. Ltd., said: "China Jin Mao Group Company Limited has traditionally been on the forefront of setting new standards in many areas, including hospitality. With the construction of the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, we set new standards for five- star hospitality, not only in China but the whole of Asia/Pacific. Introducing Bank of China's PG/BMP solution creates another first for Asia/Pacific's hospitality industry. It enhances guest service and credit card administration resulting in a substantially more efficient operation and an improved turn around for remittance of credit card revenue to the organization. It confirms our choice of MICROS-Fidelio as technology vendor and Bank of China as credit card processing vendor. China Jin Mao Group Company Limited is proud to be the first hotel in the world to introduce such an advanced credit card processing system, which also confirms that the People's Republic of China is now on the forefront of technology deployment in the hospitality industry."
Edward Tai, General Manager of The Grand Hyatt Shanghai, added: "Hyatt International has developed the Grand Hyatt Shanghai as the premier luxury hotel of the People's Republic of China with the backing of China Jin Mao Group Company Limited. We have been one of the first Hyatt International Corporate properties in Asia/Pacific to introduce the full suite of MICROS- Fidelio products and the addition of PG/BMP solution has not only a very positive impact on guest service but also on our back-of-house operations. Workload for credit card processing was reduced dramatically while remittances from Bank of China are now made substantially faster due to the automated processing. This is clearly a win-win situation for our own company, the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, our valued customers, and our employees. Hyatt International has always been on the forefront of product enhancement and we are very pleased to be the inaugural PG/BMP site for Bank of China and MICROS-Fidelio."
Peter Zhang, General Manager, Bank of China, Retail Banking Department stated, "Bank of China, the pioneer in the credit card industry in China, has been creating a customer-driven corporate culture which is in conformity with our mission statement to meet the needs of our clients. In line with this, Bank of China and MICROS-Fidelio have worked together and developed a BMP System, which integrates the MICROS-Fidelio system into the credit card processing system of Bank of China. BMP System, a technological enhancement of the hotel's system and the bank's credit card processing system, will increase the usage rate of the previous EDC system, streamline the hotel's current procedure of accepting credit cards, and greatly simplify the check-out time for customers, which embodies our customer-driven corporate culture. This effort between Bank of China and MICROS-Fidelio, a cooperation between two leaders in different industries, will be of great significance in promoting the development of credit card business in China. China Jin Mao Group Company Limited and Bank of China traditionally have had a very good relationship and we are grateful that we had the opportunity to launch the BMP system with the prestigious Grand Hyatt Shanghai. We would like to thank and congratulate China Jin Mao Group Company Limited and Hyatt International Corporate on this significant achievement."
Stefan M. Piringer, President, MICROS-Fidelio Asia/Pacific added, "MICROS- Fidelio Asia/Pacific is very pleased that the jointly-developed BMP system achieved and exceeded all targets and expectations by all stakeholders in this venture: the owner, China Jin Mao Group Company Limited, the hotel operator, Hyatt International Corporate, the customers and staff of the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, and our partner in this development, Bank of China. On behalf of MICROS, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the team members of the BMP project and in particular our lead customer – The Grand Hyatt Shanghai and China Jin Mao Group Company Limited-for supporting the BMP project and becoming the first hotel in the world to introduce this e-business solution for credit card processing. We strongly believe that this event will become a significant milestone for the People's Republic of China's credit card business development."
