Great Wolf Lodge Hard Hat Tour Reveals Ohio's Newest Family Destination
MASON, Ohio | Great Wolf Lodge opened its doors this morning for an exclusive Hard Hat Tour, offering attendees a sneak peak of the $100+ million northwoods-themed family resort destination, indoor waterpark and conference center, under construction in Mason, Ohio. The indoor waterpark resort is scheduled to open in December 2006, and the 40,000 square-foot conference center is slated to open in February 2007.
Great Wolf Resorts, Inc., developer of the four-story, log-sided family indoor waterpark resort, rolled out the red carpet and handed out hard hats before guiding tours through the 450,000 square-foot construction site. The event was staffed by team members from the existing eight Great Wolf Lodge properties. Lunch was provided by the Great Wolf Resorts culinary team, giving attendees a taste of the new restaurants before they open this fall.
Once complete, Great Wolf Lodge will employ about 500 team members. Leading the pack is Middletown native, Jim Metzger, who was hired earlier this year as General Manager. "I have many fond family memories of visiting Kings Island as a boy," said Metzger. "I'm thrilled to be back home where I can share those same experiences with my own children. This region has been a great family destination for years, and Great Wolf Lodge will welcome families to a new, first-class, year-round vacation experience, complementing area attractions and businesses."
Built on a 39-acre site adjacent to Kings Island(TM), Great Wolf Lodge will be fully integrated with the park through a connecting tram service, cross-promotions and special combination resort/theme park packages. The synergy between the Lodge and the theme park is expected to enhance visitor entertainment options and convenience, increasing overall visitor satisfaction and value.
Once open, guests will be engulfed in the cabinesque atmosphere of the northwoods upon entering the Grand Lobby. The three-story grand atrium will feature a massive stone fireplace and an animated Great Clock Tower. The resort will offer 12 suite configurations to accommodate any combination of guests, from couples to large families to business travelers. The northwoods decor will combine with amenities which define Great Wolf Lodge as a complete destination resort, including two themed restaurants, an 8,000 square-foot arcade and ticket redemption center; Cub Club children's craft and activity room; 3,000 square-foot gift shop; confectionery cafe; a full-service Starbucks Cafe; Aveda(R) Concept Spa; fitness room; and 40,000 square-feet of meeting space.
The 79,000 square-foot indoor waterpark, Bear Track Landing, will welcome guests to a year-round, 84-degree climate controlled vacation experience. Guests of all ages can soak up the fun in the six pools and 11 waterslides featured at the indoor waterpark. Over 380,000 gallons of water create one of the nation's largest indoor waterparks, featuring two thrilling body slides, three tube slides and four kiddies slides, creating a diverse mix of water attractions. The cannon bowl tube ride offers guests a whirling water ride, while the state of the art water roller coaster ride seemingly defies the law of gravity as it winds up and down before dropping riders into the plunge pool below. For those looking to unwind, the lazy river slows things down for a leisurely ride. Adult and family whirlpools invite young and old alike to a peaceful retreat. Younger guests will enjoy splashing around in the zero-depth entry pool or playing a game of water basketball in the recreation pool. In addition, guests will be able to ride the waves in the 110,000-gallon wave pool... all under roof!
Great Wolf Lodge is located just north of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio adjacent to Kings Island at 6100 Kings Island Drive. This will be the second Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio.
