Kinseth Hotel Corp

Kinseth Hospitality Companies, is proud to report a very promising trend in visitors and occupancy for King's Pointe Waterpark Resort during the 2012 summer waterpark season. As the season came to a close Labor Day weekend the Kinseth managed property located in Storm Lake Iowa, reported that they saw roughly over 56,000 guests visit the outdoor waterpark. The hotel also showed an occupancy rate topping 90% in July and 84% during the month of August setting records during both months during the five years the hotel has been open.

The city of Storm Lake hired Kinseth Hospitality Companies to manage the resort in 2009. King's Pointe Waterpark Resort and other area hotels have seen consistent growth in hotel occupancy and sales. In the last 5 years, following the first full year of operation, the area motel tax generated, has more than doubled. Kinseth attributes this growth to a combination of carefully targeted marketing efforts, detailed revenue management and monthly sales goals done in conjunction with King's Pointe. The resorts effective use of social media, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, may also be a contributor. King's Pointe uses its Facebook page to successfully engage their 9,847 fans on a daily basis. All these focused marketing efforts benefit the entire local community, by bringing guests into the community that may have otherwise chosen to vacation or stay in neighboring communities or destination locations.

The King's Pointe website has recently undergone an important face-lift incorporating recognizable brand elements, easy to find information, increased SEO, and interactive components. The indoor and outdoor waterparks draw close to 100,000 visitors per year. Keeping potential guests informed and engaged about events in Storm Lake and at the resort through social media, monthly e-blasts and the website, is an important part of generating additional revenue for the property with unlimited exposure.

With the summer season coming to an end the property will begin focusing on fall events, such as Octoberfest, and Spooky Pointe. The property will look to target business travelers, corporate special events, and work with local businesses to offer overnight packages that highlight local offerings. Being part of the AWAYSIS project has changed the city of Storm Lake's tourism environment in just six years. At Kinseth, we look forward to continuing our momentum with this property well into the fall and winter months.
