In its continual efforts to support the arts, The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah in Ubud has launched a programme designed to bring hotel guests a new art experience. Together with the Hadiprana owning family, Art Expressions lets guests put paint to paper as a form of self-expression and meditative release. As part of this art

experience, the Hadiprana family will be opening its private estate, known as Duadari, exclusively to guests of The Chedi Club Ubud. Duadari, three kilometres from the resort, is situated on the edge of a steep valley along the Sayan River while its traditional structure rises among lush green gardens, aviaries and stone sculptures.

Within the calm and quiet grounds of Duadari, guests may experiment with acrylic paint on canvas to let off creative steam while a professional local artist remains on hand to supply any guidance or information when asked for. Art Expressions requires very little forethought, prior knowledge or experience from guests and was developed to share Ubud's creative and artistic spirit, at the request of the Hadipranas. Art Expressions is priced at USD 160 per person including private transfers and afternoon tea at Duadari. Guests are welcome to keep the art pieces they create and reservations for this programme have to be made two days in advance given Art Expressions' exclusivity.

This project is The Chedi Club Ubud's second foray in bringing art closer to its guests; the first, Art Afternoons, continues as weekly discussions of Balinese art with illustrator and decade-long Bali resident Bruce Granquist.

Within its five hectares of rice paddy-bordered land and twenty individual villas, The Chedi Club hosts an art collection of over 100 paintings and sculptures personally chosen by Hendra Hadiprana while he developed one of Indonesia's largest private art collections that nurtured many unknown Balinese artists to fame. The family estate Duadari not only hosts some of Mr. Hadiprana's most treasured possessions and canvases, they feature striking combinations of black and white, meant to represent the inherent balance of life.
