Peter Klebanoff Now Heading OpenWays Mobile Key Business Development Effort in the Americas
"Adding a marketplace leader of Peter's caliber to the OpenWays team demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest quality service to hotels across the Americas," Metivier said. "Peter's 20 years of experience in sales and business development, mostly related to implementing guest-facing technologies in hotels, combined with 10 years as a hotelier where he worked in front- and back-office operations, makes him the ideal person to lead this effort and stimulate further growth.
"Peter is known and well respected by brands, owners and management companies," Metivier said. "He has implemented several innovative and successful programs focusing on enhancing the guest experience during his years in operations. He understands the impacts of technology on operations and the guest experience, and he knows how to work with hoteliers to develop optimized product enhancement strategies and engagement structures to achieve their goals and ultimately exceed guest expectations. For these reasons and many more, we are pleased to welcome Peter aboard."
Mobile Key by OpenWays securely delivers an encrypted Mobile Key "credential" to the right user anywhere in the world. Installation of the technology involves a simple and cost efficient upgrade to the hotel's existing room locks to include an OpenWays decoding device. The solution — which works with multiple technologies including Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE), Near Field Communication (NFC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Crypto Acoustic Credential (CAC) — is the most comprehensive solution on the market as it works with all mobile phone and all mobile carriers worldwide. This is truly unique.
"There has never been a more exciting time to join the OpenWays team," Klebanoff said. "Today travelers are tethered to their personal devices, but one operating platform and one mobile network does not fit all. Whether its iOS, Android, Blackberry or a Windows Phone, guests expect that a hotel's mobile offering, from apps to room keys, will work on the phones of their choosing — even non smartphones. Mobile Key by OpenWays is the first and only front-desk bypass solution on the market without limits. It works with any operating system and any mobile phone on the planet to enable guests to bypass traditional hotel check-in/-out processes, if they choose, and proceed straight to their rooms upon arrival and securely open their room locks. It's compatible with most existing locks supplied by the major electronic lock vendors with a minor upgrade, and it's attracting a growing Value Added Reseller (VAR) network. I am thrilled to join OpenWays and continue building momentum for Mobile Key adoption."
Decades of Experience
Prior to joining OpenWays, Klebanoff spent 16 years with LodgeNet Interactive Corp. (SONIFI Solutions) where he played numerous executive roles and developed a customer-satisfaction index program to help measure and improve hotel satisfaction, including ways to speed check-out. On the hotel operations side, Klebanoff played front office and housekeeping roles for Holiday Inn, Ramada, Sheraton and Marriott (where he went through their management training program as well). He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in hotel management from the University of Massachusetts and received executive education at the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Business. He has numerous professional affiliations, and served on the American Hotel & Lodging Association E-Business Committee and Tradeshow Task Force. Klebanoff is a published author, contributing several articles for hotel and security trade publications.
