Curio – A Collection by Hilton

Hilton Worldwide today welcomed The Highland Dallas to its newest brand, Curio – A Collection by Hilton. Created for travelers who seek local discovery and authentic experiences, Curio – A Collection by Hilton is a carefully selected, global collection of distinctive four to five star hotels.

"This perfectly illustrates how the brand encourages hotels to preserve what makes them special while also offering new opportunities for both hotel owners and guests with the quiet reassurance the Hilton name provides, plus the benefits of our invaluable HHonors loyalty program."

The Highland Dallas showcases the individuality that will be a hallmark for the hotels that are hand-picked to join the Curio Collection. Originally opened in the 1960s as the nine-story "Hilton Inn," the hotel at Central Expressway and Mockingbird Lane was known to host lively pianists at the penthouse hot spot called Harper's Corner, and for its "tiki room" — a former Trader Vic's Polynesian bar-restaurant.

"It's fitting that one of the first hotels to join Curio is a former Hilton property – while it returns to the Hilton portfolio, it will retain the unique identity it has developed over the past several decades," said Dianna Vaughan, global head, Curio – A Collection by Hilton. "This perfectly illustrates how the brand encourages hotels to preserve what makes them special while also offering new opportunities for both hotel owners and guests with the quiet reassurance the Hilton name provides, plus the benefits of our invaluable HHonors loyalty program.

"The Highland Dallas is an exciting example of how we can help owners meet consumer demand for differentiated hotel stays at independent properties, while also having access to the scale, scope and expertise of Hilton Worldwide."

The Highland Dallas joined the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands following a change of ownership of The Hotel Palomar Dallas on August 6. Existing Hotel Palomar Dallas reservations are intact at The Highland Dallas, and current and future guests may immediately begin using and redeeming Hilton HHonors® points.

The hotel's new restaurant Knife, a modern steakhouse and bar by two-time James Beard Best Southwest Chef John Tesar, will remain at The Highland Dallas, as will the hotel spa Exhale, which offers spa and nail treatments and yoga and core fusion classes, and the 24-hour on-site fitness facility with cardio, core, weight and endurance equipment.

In addition to a heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, cabanas and pool bar, The Highland Dallas also offers guests five complimentary bicycles to explore the surrounding area. Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Mockingbird Station is directly across the street and top restaurants, clubs, bars, shopping and other attractions are nearby, including NorthPark Center shopping mall, the Dallas Museum of Art, Majestic Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and White Rock Lake.

The hotel also has two presidential suites on its top two floors, and more than 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting space is available throughout eight meeting rooms, including the Opus Grand Ballroom.

"A premiere luxury boutique hotel, The Highland Dallas enhances the Interstate portfolio with a showcase property in one of the top U.S. travel destinations," said Jim Abrahamson, CEO of Interstate Hotels & Resorts. "As one of the first properties included in Curio – A Collection by Hilton, our management team at The Highland has developed a sophisticated guest experience that will resonate with today's modern traveller."

Existing Hotel Palomar reservations are intact at The Highland Dallas, and current and future guests may immediately begin using and redeeming Hilton HHonors® points. Customers may book new reservations by visiting www.hhonors.com, www.thehighlanddallas.com or calling 1-800-HILTONS. The property will be bookable on www.curiocollection.com Aug. 26.

As members of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, Curio hotels will offer guests the benefits of Hilton HHonors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program serving more than 40 million members. Hilton HHonors offers more ways to redeem points than any other guest-loyalty program.
