Luxury travel is changing as sustainability comes front and center for the $8.8 trillion travel industry, a sector responsible for one in 10 jobs globally, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council.

IHG is a major hospitality player with over 883,000 rooms and more than 5,900 hotels, with another 1,900 in the pipeline. Along with its InterContinental and Holiday Inn brands, it has become a growing player in the world of luxury after buying Six Senses, Regent, and Kimpton.

During the International Luxury Travel Market held in Cannes, France, last December, IHG's senior vice president of global marketing for luxury brands, Jane Mackie, and Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, joined Francisca Kellett, former travel editor of Tatler magazine, to discuss conscious luxury, what it means, what the industry is doing, and why it matters.
