Citybox adopts Mews to streamline operations and scale innovation across the Nordics
Tech-forward hotel brand modernizes operations with Mews to eliminate manual work, gain real-time insights, and deliver a fully seamless guest journey

Bergen, Norway - Fast-growing Norwegian hotel group, Citybox, has selected Mews, the leading operating system for hospitality and shared spaces, as its property management system to power its multi-country portfolio and accelerate the brand’s mission to deliver the most seamless customer experience in the industry.
Citybox currently operates 10 properties, with live and upcoming hotels across Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Belgium and Denmark. The modern brand was the first hotel chain in Norway to replace the traditional front desk with check-in terminals, a bold move that challenged the status quo. Today, the brand builds its modern check-in terminals in-house, continuing to do things differently for both guests and staff.
Known for redefining the hotel stay with self-service and smart design, Citybox will use Mews to modernize its tech stack and processes, replacing its legacy PMS, automating manual tasks for staff, and unlocking innovation across the guest journey. Mews will provide the open API foundation Citybox needs to build and innovate quickly, with less dependency on third-party solutions, while also delivering intuitive reporting and business intelligence. Today, basic reporting takes hours of manual effort to compile. With Mews, teams will gain fast, actionable insight into performance and operations, ensuring they can make decisions in real time, support rapid growth, and reduce time spent on manual, duplicative work.
Our previous PMS wasn’t built for a fully digital, scalable hotel model. Mews gives us the flexibility to move faster, automate more and continuously improve the guest journey without being constrained by legacy systems. By switching to Mews, we’re replacing complexity with flexibility, manual processes with real-time insight, and gaining a platform that supports how Citybox operates today - and how we want to grow tomorrow. Eivind Hjulstad, CEO of Citybox
Citybox will also benefit from deep connectivity to existing tools the brand already values. The group already uses Atomize, a Mews company, for revenue optimization and forecasting, and is excited to align this with Mews' full operating system and integrated approach.
Citybox Kristiansand will be the first property to go live on Mews in early February 2026, with a phased rollout across the rest of the portfolio to follow. As the group scales, Mews’ multi-property capabilities, embedded payments and open API will ensure the tech stack remains cohesive and efficient, while empowering the brand to experiment and iterate quickly as guest expectations evolve.
Matt Welle, CEO of Mews, commented: Citybox has led the way on self-service hospitality, and their ‘do things differently’ mindset is exactly what the modern guest loves. With Mews as their platform, Citybox can eliminate manual work, gain instant insight and keep innovating – so hosts can spend less time on admin and more time delighting guests.
