In mid-2013 Casimir Platzer took over the reins of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA) as its new President. The Hotel Yearbook caught up with Casimir to find out about the organization’s goals for 2014 and how he sizes up the key issues the industry is facing.
Mr. Aidi began by expressing doubt that about the possibility of a recovery this year. He said: “Next year, maybe; two years later we will have more chance!!!” He added: “Why our economy is falling down? Why is our banking system going into bankruptcy? What's going on? “In October 2008 the growing instability in economy and the fear of a great recession resulted in cheerless predictions for the performance of our industry.
Dear industry friends, Sustainable tourism is on the rise : consumer demand is growing, travel industry suppliers are developing new green programs, and governments are creating new policies to encourage sustainable practices in tourism.
At the 2018 Barcelona Hospitality Forum, IH&RA, the global association of hotels and restaurants, was the co-organizer, with ASCAME, of a special hospitality symposium at MedaWeek, during which the organization's President Dr.
Earlier this week, the President of IH&RA Dr. Ghassan Aidi signed an agreement with the President of China Hotel Association, Mrs. Han Ming, to organize IH&RA's 53rd Annual Congress to be taking place at the Dragon Hotel, Hangzhou, October 13-15 2017.

The Executive Board of IH&RA, gathered around its President Dr Ghassan AIDI and the different Board members China, Argentina, Switzerland, Spain, Croatia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, USA , the Mediterranean Association of Hotels and Restaurants (MH&RA) was held in UMIH's offices.
