Greenwashing - and how the hotel industry can avoid it

Greenwashing, or the making of misleading environmental claims, can cause huge reputational damage, as well as incurring significant legal liability. This webinar, held jointly by The Energy & Environmental Alliance (EEA, a not-for-profit coalition of hospitality sector leaders focussed on achieving ESG compliance and net zero carbon) and DLA Piper, will examine how the hotel sector can ensure that its advertising and marketing claims do not mislead the public or lead to greenwashing allegations.

The session will also mark the launch of a report published by EEA and DLA Piper on the topic of greenwashing and the hotel sector, and will also feature contribution from the Competition and Markets Authority, who have recently published new guidance on the law in this developing area. Issues covered will include what evidence is required to substantiate claims, references to targets and certification schemes, and the risks of non-compliance.
