Marriott Selected by CIO Magazine As One of Top 100 Companies to Excel in the 21st Century
WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 / CIO magazine has named Marriott International, Inc.
"Marriott is honored to be among the distinguished companies recognized by
the CIO-100," said William J. Shaw, Marriott's president and chief operating officer. "This recognition by experts affirms that Marriott International is using technology effectively and in innovative ways to gain competitive advantage in the hospitality industry."
The winners of this year's CIO-100 award were selected through a three- step process. First, a panel of 18 distinguished academicians, consultants and analysts nominated the companies they felt best fit their criteria for being well positioned to succeed beyond 2000. Then, CIO magazine staff conducted extensive research on the 151 nominees via the Web and other sources. Finally, a team of CIO editors and writers voted on the 100 companies they felt best met the requirements.
