Omni Hotels Officially Joins U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's Crib Safety Initiative
IRVING, Texas -- Omni Hotels announces today they have publicly joined the crib safety initiatives brought forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The CPSC along with the National SAFE KIDS Campaign announced on February 22, 2000 a crib and play yard safety initiative to keep children safe when traveling with their families. The initiative was brought about after recent spot checks by SAFE KIDS found unsafe cribs and play yards in 80 percent of hotels and motels visited.
"Omni Hotels began voluntarily complying with all standards set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission when the initiative was launched in October," said Jeff Smith, Corporate Director of Rooms for Omni Hotels. "We officially joined the initiative today because we felt it was important to publicly state how strongly we feel about the importance of crib safety."
As part of the crib safety initiative, Omni Hotels conducted a complete crib inspection at all hotels. Additionally, crib inventory was reviewed in comparison to the recall notices provided by the CPSC.
"Omni Hotels is making an important commitment to ensure the cribs they provide their youngest guests are as safe as possible," said CPSC Chairman Ann Brown. "We hope every hotel in America will conduct ongoing inspections to make sure cribs meet current safety standards, are in good repair and have not been recalled."
